Manual Therapy in Wilmington.

Skilled hands-on work that gives a stiff joint its motion back, then the movement that teaches your body to keep it.

Hands-on, every visit Stiffness that won’t stretch out Talk to a Specialist

What It Is

Hands first. Then movement.

Some stiffness isn’t a flexibility problem. The joint itself has stopped gliding the way it’s built to, and no amount of stretching in your kitchen changes that.

Manual Therapy is skilled hands-on work chosen from your evaluation: joint mobilization to restore that glide, soft tissue work to quiet a muscle that’s guarding, and gentle nerve mobility when a nerve is the thing being crowded.

It’s done by the Doctor of Physical Therapy who examined you, so we’re treating the segment that’s actually stuck instead of the whole neighborhood. Then we load that motion in the same visit, because a joint you don’t use goes right back to stiff.

What It Helps

Where hands-on work shines.

Stiffness that resets itself every morning is a joint problem, not a willpower problem.

What A Session Looks Like

Three steps, one visit.

1

We find the segment that isn’t moving.

2

Hands-on work gives it back its glide.

3

You load that motion before you leave.

Why It Works

Four reasons hands still matter.

Motion back in the visit you’re in.

Skilled hands find what a stretch can’t.

Less guarding, so exercise finally works.

Paired with loading, so it lasts.

Questions, Answered

Manual therapy, no mystery.

No. Manual therapy here is graded joint mobilization and soft tissue work, chosen from your cause-first evaluation. There’s no pop required and nothing happens that you haven’t agreed to. The goal isn’t the technique itself, it’s restoring the motion and then loading it in the same visit so your body has a reason to keep it.

Most of it feels like firm, steady pressure, and a stiff joint can feel tender for a moment while it starts to move. You set the ceiling. Tell your therapist and the pressure changes right then. Some people notice a bit of soreness later that day, the way you would after a good workout.

Yes, and that’s the honest answer. Hands-on work buys you motion. Loading is what tells your body to keep it. A clinic that only ever puts hands on you is selling you a standing appointment. We’d rather give you a plan with an endpoint.
