About Advance in Motion Physical Therapy
Most clinics manage your symptoms and call it a plan. We built this place to end them: one-on-one, with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every single visit.
Our Story
Advance in Motion at a community event in Wilmington
Advance in Motion was founded by Joshua Lyon. He introduces himself the same way every time, on camera and off: the owner of AIM. The clinic runs on one standard, and it is the thing patients notice first. You work one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit.
His objection to a lot of care is that it stops at the symptom. Sitting down with a Wilmington pain specialist for our Spotlight Series, he put it plainly: taking the time to present the options to the patient, not just slapping a band-aid on and covering up the pain, but actually getting to the root cause. That is the evaluation you get here. We find what is driving the pain before anyone treats it.
It is also why he started that series in the first place, sitting down with sports medicine physicians and pain specialists around Wilmington and publishing the whole conversation rather than a clip of it. Good care is rarely one clinician working alone. Day to day the clinic is led by Dr. Natalie Knight, PT, DPT, our Clinic Director, and hers is the name that comes up most often in our reviews. The people who do best here are the ones who fix things: their houses, their teams, their families. This is where they finally fix the thing they’ve been putting off: themselves.
The standard doesn’t change from patient to patient: a cause-first evaluation, a plan with an endpoint, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy in the room for every visit.
The Advance in Motion approach
What We Believe
No techs bouncing between rooms, no handoffs mid-visit. Just you and a Doctor of PT, the whole time.
You’ve probably chased the pain itself before and never found why it started. We find the why, then the ache stops coming back.
You shouldn’t need a punch card. Every plan comes with a graduation date, so you always know how close you are.
Your job, your body, your goals: that’s what your plan is built around, never pulled from a generic sheet.
The Difference
